Top 10 Security Tips you must know

Today, I will tell you about some Security Enhancements. Nowadays, Security is very rare. So, to be safe you will arrange it to high. There are many precautions you can take that will protect you against the most common threats. So without wasting any more time, let’s begin.


#1 – Use Mobile Devices Safely

  •  Lock your devices with a PIN, Password or Pattern. Use Bio-metric locks like Fingerprint, Face, and Iris for better protection. Never leave it Unprotected
  • Only install Apps from a trusted source. Don’t enable “Unknown Source” option on your Android or iPhone.
  • Keep your devices Operating System updated.
  • If you are an Android user then use Google’s “Find my Device“. If you are Apple user then use ” Find my iPhone“. There has a default feature for Samsung Users “Find my Mobile“. It will help you to find your device when it was either lost or theft.

#2 – Avoid Phishing Scams 

Never log in to untrusted websites, links that someone sent to you saying any fake reason like “Log in here and get 500 Paytm cash”. They send it to know your Username and Password. It’s called Phishing. It’s a traditional method of hacking. It can be carried out by Phone, Text, or through E-mail but most commonly in Social Networking Sites. So, never login even don’t click this type links from an Untrusted Peoples.

#3 – Use an Antivirus and Keep it Updated

Buy antivirus software and keep it up to date. If you’re not willing to pay, use Windows Defender.You will get it pre-installed on your Windows System. Scan your full PC regularly with Windows Defender and keep it up to date.

#4 – Use Strong Passwords for your Accounts

Use strong passwords and change them periodically. Passwords should have at least 8 characters; use letters both of uppercase and lowercase, numbers and have at least one special character. A decent example would be “iYousuf#1234”. This will make it much harder for anyone to gain access to your accounts using the Brute-Force-Attack method.

#5 – Enable Two-Step-Authentication

Two-Step-Authentication is a feature that provides you more security. It wants a verification by sending you OTP in your Phone or E-mail. Take Backup Codes for verification it will help you when you can’t reach your phone. So, Enable Two-Step-Authentication feature in your accounts like Google, Facebook, Microsoft etc.

#6 – Keep software up to date 

Always use latest versions of Softwares. Update the software you are using time to time like Browsers and Antivirus. Don’t take it lightly. It is much important.

#7 – Backup your Important data

Back up on a regular basis and keep backups on another device. It will save you from Ransomware Viruses. Use Google Drive, Microsoft’s OneDrive.

#8 – Be Safe from spam E-mails

Don’t assume that e-mail “From:” a particular person is actually from that person until you have further reason to believe it’s that person. Don’t assume that an attachment is what it says it is. Don’t give out your password to anyone, even if that person claims to be from “support.”

#9 – Update your System

If you using Windows check Windows Update and Office Update regularly. Click on the Automatic Updates tab in the System control panel and choose the appropriate options.

Tip #10 – Make your Wireless Network strong 

If you using a wireless network, turn on the security features: Use MAC filtering, turn off SSID broadcast, and even use WEP with the biggest key you can get.


Additional tips :

  • Install a free spyware blocker.
  • Install a personal firewall. Mac and Windows OS have their basic desktop firewall pre-installed.
  • Be aware of what you are plugging into your computer. Flash drives and even Smartphones can contain malware.
